What is the
procedure for Receiving Accommodations at Davidson?
All students seeking accommodations
on the basis of learning disability undergo an evaluation by Davidson
College-designated learning specialist, usually at the student’s
expense. The results of the evaluation, made available to the College
with the student’s permission, may include recommendations
for compensatory learning strategies to be used by the student and
recommendations for accommodations and services to be provided by
the College. With the student’s permission, the Dean of Students
Office notifies professors of an individual student’s need
for adaptations. Accommodations are not universal in nature, but
are designed to meet the specific need of the individual to offset
a specific disability. Two students with learning disabilities may
require different accommodations and a student with dyscalculia
may not need accommodations in an English class.
