For all first year students, the college transition
can be both academically and socially challenging. Learning how
to manage time and discipline oneself for fun and study does not
come naturally for any student.
SNL recognizes that incoming students with learning differences
not only face those challenges that are common to their peers, but
they also face their unique challenges of coping and succeeding
in college with learning differences.
Description
of Mentor Program:
SNL – Mentor Program supports first year
students with learning differences by providing upper-class mentors
who have transitioned well at Davidson and are willing to mentor
freshmen.
Mission of Mentor
Program:
The Mentor Program will…
- Match mentor and freshmen based on shared interest and learning
differences.
- Recruit and enroll incoming freshmen into the program during
the summer before their first year
- Offer advice on academic planning and scheduling.
