Welcome to the website of Davidson College's Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA)! The GSA is the main organization at Davidson with the fundamental aim of enhancing the College's understanding and acceptance of issues related to sexuality.

A long-time fixture on Davidson's campus, the GSA represents those members of the College community who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (GLBTQ) as well as straight allies. Membership in GSA includes students, faculty, and staff.

The GSA's most crucial goal is to help the Davidson College community become so comfortable and so accepting that every GLBTQ person on campus feels comfortable enough to be open and honest about his or her respective sexuality. As author Anas Nin writes, "There came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." At Davidson College, the time to blossom is now.

Our time at Davidson College is, above all else, a time for learning and for growth. The GSA seeks to realize this goal by helping members of the College community embrace diversity in the fullest sense. Indeed this mission is integral to the Davidson College Statement of Purpose: "Davidson values diversity, recognizing the dignity and worth of every person."

We invite you to peruse the website, to attend a meeting, and to become involved!
