FALL 2004

Gearing up for a competitive season, Davidson Crew competed at home and at Boston

25 October 2004

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson Crew welcomed Wake Forest University and the University of South Carolina last Saturday for a scrimmage on Lake Norman. The course, nearly 5K, proved to be a good warm up for Davidson's fall season.

Men's Varsity 4+ completed the course in 19:42.68, finishing first in their event over USC. The Women's Novice 4+ A also finished first (22:53.77) in their event, which included six boats. The Men's Varsity Lt 4+ also had a good showing, completing the course in under 21 minutes. For a complete list of results, click here.

The Women's Varsity 4+ A traveled to Boston this weekend to race at the Head of the Charles Regatta. They finished the altered course in 17:10.382, coming in 36th place. This is the first time Davidson has raced at the Head of the Charles. Davidson attempted to race at the Charles a decade ago, but the race was cancelled for the first time in its history that year.

Next week the team heads to Knoxville for the Head of the Tennessee.

Davidson trains for the 2004 Head Race Season

27 September 2004

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson rowers settle into a promising 2004 season as they train for their first regatta, a scrimmage they will host at the Davidson College Lake Campus. This year the team boasts ten boats–four Varsity and six Novice.

Wake Forest University and the University of South Carolina will compete at the Davidson scrimmage. The scrimmage, which is also Davidson College's Parents Weekend, will hopefully draw spectators from the campus and from across the nation.
