A Richmond, Virginia native and a 1970 Davidson grad, William was Assistant Director of the Union here from 1976-79. He then worked as the Assistant Director of Willard Straight Hall at Cornell 1979-1983. In 1983 William returned to Davidson to serve as Director of the College Union and of Student Activities. William and C. Shaw Smith (Director from 1952-1983) are the only two Union Directors Davidson has known. William served as a primary advisor to the Union Board for many years, directly advising the Union Board President and committees like the Video Committee, Student Performers, and the Members-at-Large. William has been a strong supporter of Davidson Outdoors (initially a committee of the Union Board), initiated After Midnight, and was a major part of the effort to present major concerts here. Perhaps most notable is the fact that William was the person driving the effort to build our new union, the Knobloch Campus Center, opening in 2001.

As the Assistant Director for Programs in the Alvarez College Union, Jason serves as an advisor to the Union Board and assists student organizations who are interested in planning events and contracting performers. He joined the staff in 2006 after completing his undergraduate and graduate studies at Virginia Tech. Jason has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.  He currently advises the Union Board President, Vice President, Artist Series Chair, Concert Chair, Coffeehouse Chair, Media Coordinator, Members-at-Large, and Treasurer.

Ashley Owen

Ashley is originally from Columbia, SC and received her Bachelor of Arts from Wofford College, where she majored in Business Economics and minored in Art History. During her time at Wofford, she became involved in many aspects of student life including serving as a student body officer for two consecutive years, executive officer of her sorority, planning orientation and leadership programs, and working for the Dean of Students. After graduating, she attended Vanderbilt University and received her Master of Education in Higher Education Administration and worked with the Office of New Student and First Year Programs and the Office of Student Campus Events. In July 2008, Ashley joined the Davidson community as a Program Advisor in the College Union and Dean of Students Office. She advises the Union Board Films, Lake Campus, Outpost, Recess, Speakers, and Student Performers Committees as well as the Secretary, Ambassador, and Publicity Coordinator. Ashley also produces After Midnight and assists with new student orientation, family weekend, wildcat welcome week, and quiz bowl.
