As philosopher, writer, and educational consultant, Cathy Bao Bean has presented a wide range of programs throughout the United States. Her memoir, The Chopsticks-Fork Principle: A Memoir and Manual, is a story for all families. In this humorous and poignant memoir, the author, an immigrant from China, recounts how she figured out how to be herself, as well as raise a son whose artist father did things like paint the lawn. As Cathy Bao Bean attempts to satisfy disparate cultural norms, she provides us with a unique window into the experience of a bicultural family.

Scavenger Hunt

How about you enjoy your true last weekend with the Union Board. This weekend, we will hold one of our last events. A SCAVENGER HUNT. It will be a team based scavenger hunts with teams having no more than five but no less than 2 members. Various and quite random items will be placed all over campus and each item will have a designated point value. The smaller items will have low point values but they will be numerous and primarily up the hill. The items worth a lot of points will be anywhere on campus and include a twist. Before you can find the item, you must figure out the riddle that describes what and maybe where they are. Fabulous prizes are available for the top three teams. First Place wins $300 worth of prizes, 2nd place gets $200 worth of prizes, and 3rd place is worth $100 in prizes. Email iamangum@davidson.edu to register your team by Friday 7pm. If you have any questions please email iamangum@davidson.edu as well. There will still be a chance to register a team on the event date; however, if too many teams are already registered then your team will be denied entry. Hopefully, you will join us and have some great outdoor fun. Show up to hear rules and regulations @ 2:30 pm. Event begins at 3pm
