Speaker: Doug Lansky, Travel Journalist and Photographer
Monday, September 14

Doug Lansky, award-winning National Geographic author and world travel expert, will present a lecture entitled “Get Lost.” Lansky will speak about adapting an inquisitive travel mindset, and illustrate his remarks with images collected from his travels in more than 100 countries. Lansky wrote a nationally syndicated travel column that reached over 10 million readers of 40 major newspapers, published articles in many leading national magazines, served as the regular world-travel expert on Public Radio International’s Savvy Traveler, and has hosted a travel documentary for the Discovery Channel/Travel Channel. He also taught journalism at Colorado College and has published several books, including, Signspotting, Last Trout in Venice, Up the Amazon without a Paddle, and Rough Guide to Traveling Around the World.

On the 30th, the bus will leave at 6:15 pm from Baker Parking Lot and will come back to campus at 1 am. There is a limited amount of tickets so make sure you get to the ticket sales early!

On Friday, December 4th there will be massages, cats and dogs from the Cornelius Animal Shelter, holiday card making, and tarot card reading in the 900 room in the Union. This event will be a great way to relax before exams! There will also be a supply drive for the Cornelius Animal Shelter during the week leading up to the event. The Animal Shelter would greatly appreciate donations such as cat and dog toys, paper towels, and cat litter. Donation boxes will be placed in the union. If you are interested in volunteering at the shelter, there will be applications at the event.
