Cars are permitted on campus, and they are useful for trips into Charlotte and environs, for visits home, or trips to the Lake Campus. Students usually do things in groups, though, and there is no difficulty in getting a ride with a friend. The college occasionally arranges transportation for major events off campus. All cars are registered with campus police.

Bicycles are useful and popular at Davidson. Bicycle racks are available outside of most dorms. The college has experienced some trouble with theft, and a good lock is available in the bookstore. No storage for bikes is permitted, except in student rooms. Students are urged to register their bicycles with campus security to make recovery of a stolen bike more likely.
