Opportunities
Annual Retreat
Campus leaders and those interested in assuming leadership positions
are invited to an annual retreat sponsored by the Office of the Dean
of Students. Here they learn and practice valuable leadership skills
such as motivating volunteers, effective communication, negotiating,
goal setting, budgeting and running a productive meeting. Professionals
from the campus and community serve as educators and mentors during
this beneficial weekend and throughout the academic year.
Business and
Industrial Focus Group
The Business and Industry Focus Group is an association of seniors from
each graduating class who have declared their intention to seek employment
in business and industry. They participate in receptions, dinners, forums,
seminars and personal career development exercises throughout their
senior year. The goal of this program is to prepare seniors for entry
into corporate employment or into small to mid-sized business opportunities.
North Carolina
Fellows
Sophomores, juniors and seniors can participate in training programs
designed to strengthen their leadership skills and prepare them for
lives of decision making and team building. N.C. Fellows meet community
leaders and business people through participation in internships, externships
and networking luncheons. Personal growth is also encouraged through
the development of personal service projects and the keeping of personal
journals.
