Davidson Welcomes New Trustees
The Davidson College community is proud to introduce the five newest members of the Board of Trustees.
The new members were welcomed at the February 11 Board meeting. They bring a wide variety of experience and knowledge to their new roles and will serve for a period of
Frances Watt Baker
Dr. Frances Watt Baker is a pediatrician and the daughter, wife, and mother of Davidson alumni. In fact, her family includes over 25 Davidson alumni, at least 15 of whom are physicians.
Fran attended Carleton College and received her BA and MD from Johns Hopkins. Fran and her husband, Lenox '63, played an instrumental
role in the successful completion of the new life sciences building and named the science complex
to honor their fathers, Jim Watt '31 and Lenox Baker, Sr. Fran and Lenox have four children
and live in Norfolk, Virginia. Their daughter, Margaret Baker, graduated from Davidson in 1995.

John McCartney '74
Upon his 1974 graduation from Davidson, John McCartney earned his MBA from the University of
Pennsylvania's Wharton School. He spent the majority of his career with U.S. Robotics Corporation,
a communications technology company which merged with 3Com in 1997. At the time of the merger,
John was President and COO of U.S. Robotics. Currently John serves as
Vice Chairman of Datatec, Limited, a global provider of Internet-related products and services.
John recently co-chaired his 25th reunion. He now serves as the chairman of our Board of Visitors and will serve on the Board of Trustees for two years in that capacity.
John and his wife, Clare Muņana, have three children and live in Chicago.

John B. Rogers '63
Dr. John Rogers is the pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church in uptown Charlotte. Following his
1963 graduation from Davidson, he continued his studies at Union Seminary in Richmond where he
received his Bachelor of Divinity, Master of Theology, and Doctor of Ministry degrees. He has served
several churches in the southeast, including our own Davidson College Presbyterian Church. John
currently is a member of our Board of Visitors. He and his wife Anne have two children and live in
Charlotte. Their daughter, Anne DuPre Rogers, graduated from Davidson in 1995.

C. Michael Deese
Mike Deese is an attorney and the managing partner of the Washington, D.C. law firm of Charapp, Deese & Weiss, LLP.
Following his 1973 graduation from Davidson, Mike earned an MA and JD from the University of Pennsylvania.
He has been an active and enthusiastic Davidson alumnus, chairing his 20th and 25th reunions, working
with the Annual Fund, and serving on the Dean Rusk Program Advisory Council. Mike is the president-elect
of the Alumni Association and will serve on the Board of Trustees for two years in his role as president-elect
and president. He and his wife Pam have three children and live in McLean, Virginia.

Ken Crews '70
Ken Crews, a managing director of Warburg Dillon Read in Dallas, Texas, has been a loyal Davidsonian
since his graduation in 1970. After receiving an MBA from the University of Chicago in 1974, Ken
embarked on a successful career in investment banking. Ken has been a generous supporter of the Annual Fund,
served as the chair of his 20th reunion, and is serving as a committee member for his upcoming 30th reunion.
Ken and his wife Patti have three young children. His oldest child, Kelly, graduated from Davidson in 1991.
