September 1-3, 2006
At Davidson College in Davidson, N.C., USA

Schedule

Friday, Sept. 1

Register for the festival at Davidson's spacious Alvarez College Union beginning at 3 p.m. The Union will be your festival home for the weekend. It features a three-story atrium for almost unlimited high tosses, a snack bar, pool and ping pong tables, and plenty of surrounding green space for outdoor juggling.

9 p.m. Fire Juggle. As a late evening salute to the Davidson College community, we'll stage a Giant Fire Juggle in the Union's outdoor amphitheatre. Be sure to bring your flaming props along!

9:30 p.m. Chips, Dips & Video Clips. We'll gather in the Smith 900 Room for some free refreshments, and some juggling video clips broadcast onto the mega-huge, giant screen there.

 Saturday, Sept. 2

9 a.m. Juggling on the Green. We'll get out into the Davidson community Saturday morning by starting the day off on the Village Green. It's right on the edge of the Davidson campus in the heart of downtown, and from 9-noon the festival will relocate there so that we can teach and demonstrate juggling in a high-visibility way.

Saturday Workshops. We'll have workshops on the Green from 9-noon, and then more back at the Alvarez College Union from noon-2 p.m. Here's the lineup:

9 a.m. - Introductory three ball tricks with Jerry Dawson
10 a.m. - Club partner tricks with Warren and Pam Hamilton
11 a.m. - Four and five-ball tricks with Matt Hall
Noon - Two diabolos with Matt Hall
1 p.m. - Kendama with Joe Dean
1 p.m. - Beginning/intermediate diabolo with Ken Julian
2 p.m. - Site swap with Greg Warrington

Test your skills at Juggling Games in the amphitheatre from 3-6 p.m.

We'll have a A Pizza Feast (included with registration) for supper at 6 p.m.

The prize awards for the raffle will be made during the Pizza Feast.

This year's Family Vaudeville Extravaganza, the Saturday evening entertainment, will be held beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Davidson's 625-seat Duke Family Performance Hall, an exquisite, state-of-the-art theatre fit for frolic!

Since one night of fire is never enough, we'll invite the audience from the show to join us immediately after the show in the amphitheatre for Giant Fire Juggle II!

 Sunday, Sept. 3

We'll sleep late, and gather about noon to motor 80 minutes up I-77 and I-40 to Winston Salem, N.C., the site of the 2007 IJA Festival. We'll receive a guided tour of the two festival hotels, and amble through the underground tunnel into Winston-Salem's M.C. Benton Convention Center, the festival home. We'll juggle there throughout the afternoon to get acclimated to the space, and you're welcome to prowl the neighborhood or visit other historic sites in town. The Convention and Visitors Bureau might invite members of the public to join us for learn-to-juggle workshops.
