Student Artist Bios
Elizabeth Davis ‘06 (singer) is an English major
from Austin, TX. She participates in a variety of activities on campus,
including Concert Choir and Chamber Singers. She studies in Diane Thornton’s
vocal studio.
Cassandra Dozet ‘08 (Assistant Stage Manager) is
an English major at Davidson College. She was involved in the Studio Theatre
production of “Cirque de Sottise” her freshman year. She also
performs with the Davidson College Orchestra and Jazz Band.
Steve Foglia ’09 (The Douglas, Demetrius), became
actively involved in theatre during high school. He acted and constructed
sets for all four years. In his junior and senior years, he also wrote
and directed two one-act plays. This is his first time performing at Davidson.
Kelsey Formost ’09 (Juliet, Hermia, singer) has
been involved in numerous local and national productions including leading
roles in A Streetcar Named Desire, Les Miserables, The
Wiz, Peter Pan, The Secret Garden, and Grease.
Kelsey recently performed at Lincoln Center for the National ESU Shakespeare
Competition, as well as at San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre’s
“Celebrity Sonnet Night.”
Alex Gregor ’09 (Lord Capulet, Theseus), hails
from the hamlet of Brevard, NC His most recent stage experience was being
held captive by gangsters in The McCallie School’s production of
The Petrified Forest.
Liz Grundstein ’08 (singer) is from Philadelphia.
Past activities included the swim team, school choir, a cappella, and
the Repertory Company. Previous productions include The Sound of Music
and Little Shop of Horrors. At Davidson, she is pursuing a Spanish
major. She has an interest in psychology and is involved in Concert Choir
and Dance Ensemble.
Lauren Heinze ’07 (Viola, Snout/Lion) hails from
Chicago. Lauren performed earlier this year as Ms. Ritter in the Davidson
production of She Loves Me. Also at Davidson, Lauren has performed
in Frankenstein:The Rock Opera and From Sondheim to Bernstein:
A Musical Review. Lauren directs and sings in the Davidson Delilahs,
a female a capella group.
Russell Howard ‘06 (composer), a history major,
is participating in a Davidson Theatre production for the first time.
He has taken composition under Associate Professor Jennifer Stasack and
won a songwriting/performing competition at Berklee School of Music. He
performs with the Davidson Generals and the Davidson Symphony Orchestra.
After graduation, Russell plans to pursue a career as a singer/songwriter/guitarist.
Emily
Howe '09 (keyboardist) is a rising sophomore at Davidson, where
she hopes to complete a double major in English and Music. The recipient
of a Donald
Plott Music Scholarship, Emily remains very active as a solo and
ensemble pianist, and also sings as a member of Davidson's Concert Choir
and Chamber Singers.
Briana Hunter ‘08 (Hippolyta, Westmoreland, singer)
came to Davidson College by way of Philadelphia, PA. She has played a
variety of roles from the male Quartermaster Robert Hitchens in Titanic
to the fiery Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing.
Tamara Ivins ’07 (Production Stage Manager), a
Theatre/Classics double-major, is an actor/stage manager with experience
spanning 12 years and 33 productions. At Davidson College, she has played
Maggie in Dancing at Lughnasa and stage-managed The Love
of the Nightingale. Shakespearean performances include Feste in Twelfth
Night, Celia in As You Like It, and Hortensio in The
Taming of the Shrew.
Steve Kaliski ’07 (Antonio, Henry IV), has been acting
ever since sixth grade and played leading roles in Arsenic and
Old Lace and Twelve Angry Men at Charlotte Latin School.
He has performed in six productions since coming to Davidson, including
in The Love of the Nightingale.
David Kerns ‘08 (Claudio, Sebastian), was recently
in a featured role in the Davidson College Theatre Department production
of She Loves Me.
Bryant Kirkland ’07 (Falstaff, Bottom/Pyramus,
singer) has interests that range from translating classical poetry to
singing Broadway show tunes. Bryant has appeared in the Davidson College
productions of Frankenstein: The Rock Opera (Dr. Frankenstein)
and She Loves Me (Stephen Kodaly).
Jacqueline Lacaire ’07 (Prince John, Snug/Lion),
is from Acton, MA. She is an English major at Davidson College and has
appeared with Dance Ensemble. Her theatre department credits include the
role of Chris in Dancing at Lughnasa and Jax in Pastiche.
Suzanne Lenz ‘09 (singer, Assistant Stage Manager)
hopes to pursue a major in theatre at Davidson. She was last seen in She
Loves Me and will appear this spring as Patsy in The Rimers of
Eldritch.
David McClay ’08 (Romeo, Hotspur), a sophomore
from Durham, NC He was previously involved in She Loves Me as
the detective and ensemble, as well as Performing Shakespeare’s
Much Ado About Nothing as Dogberry. David is English major/ theatre
minor and a member of Davidson’s co-ed a cappella group, Androgyny.
Moira McCormick ‘09 (Flute/Thisbe), is a native
of Greenville, S.C. Moira has appeared in several shows in middle and
high school and has served as light board operator, assistant drama teacher,
and assistant stage manager. Moira has also successfully competed in dramatic
and humorous interpretation speech tournaments.
Kim Murphy ’09 (Lady Capulet, Starveling/Moonshine),
is from Potomac, MD. She was last seen in She Loves Me and hopes
to be a part of future Davidson productions.
Glynnis O’Donoghue ’07 (Nurse, Quince/Prologue,
Fightsman) is a theatre major from West Hartford, CT. She has been involved
in the Davidson Theatre Department since her first year and her favorite
roles include Jan in Bedroom Farce and The McShane Sextuplets
in Wonder of the World.
Barratt Park ’06 (singer) is a senior chemistry
major hailing from Greenwood, SC. He is a vocal student of Diane Thornton,
and previously of Jennifer Hough, and sings with the Davidson College
Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, and with the a cappella group Androgyny.
Performances at Davidson include Frankenstein: The Rock Opera,
Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado, and the 2003 chemistry
safety video.
Austin Reid (singer), is a physics major and mathematics
minor. He was last seen as Prince Dauntless in the Oak Ridge High School
Masquers’ production of Once Upon a Mattress. In the years
since then he has been active in the Davidson College Concert Choir and
Sigma Phi Epsilon.
Hanley Smith ’07 (Isabel, Helena, singer), is an
English major and theatre minor at Davidson College. She has appeared
in numerous productions including The Love of the Nightingale
(as Philomele) and She Loves Me (as Amalia Balash) at Davidson
College.
Pete Schild ‘08 (Prince Hal, Orsino, Lysander)
is a sophomore who plans to major in theatre. He recently portrayed Claudio
in the Performing Shakespeare class production of Much Ado about Nothing.
Will Winter ’07 (composer) is a music major studying
composition under Jennifer Stasack. Additionally, he studies horn with
Frank Portone. This is his first experience underscoring live drama.
