Navigating the Davidson College SACS Web site:
Davidson College is providing its SACS Reaffirmation of Accreditation submission in three forms: Web site, DVD, and hard copy. You will find printed versions of each requirement and standard in your binder. The supporting documentation for these narratives can be accessed through the Web site or on the enclosed DVD.
Recommended System Requirements
- Windows 95 or higher (Our compliance certification can be viewed in the Mac Operating System, but certain script functions within the document will not function correctly)
- A broadband Internet connection, if accessing our submission through the Internet
- A DVD-ROM drive, if accessing our submission with the enclosed DVD
- Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader (Download instructions are provided below)
- A standard Web browser (such as Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox)
- Microsoft Excel for a limited number of documents
Tips for Better Viewing
- The majority of documentation in Davidson’s Compliance Certification is in PDF format. To view these files you will need Acrobat Reader, Version 6 or higher. Acrobat Reader can be freely downloaded at Adobe's Web site as follows:
Go to Adobe's Web site - http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2_allversions.html
1. Enter your operating system, version and language as requested.
2. Select to download the full version (file size and version number will vary based on your system requirements).
3. Click the 'Download' button.
4. A dialog box will prompt you to save or open the file. Click 'Open'. This will download the software to your computer and start the installation process automatically. If the installation process does not begin automatically, find the saved file on your computer and double-click the file to begin installation.
- Page number references refer to the actual page number located on the documents themselves, not the page number listed at the bottom of the Acrobat Reader window.
- Documents and other Web sites accessed by clicking on a hyperlink within a narrative will open in a new window. After viewing, we suggest you close the new window to improve the viewing performance of other documents. You will then return to the open window displaying the Compliance Certification to continue reading the narrative.
- While opening documentation included in this report, your virus protection software may warn you that this may endanger your computer. You may disregard these warnings. All files included in this report have been scanned and are safe.
- Some documents located outside of the Davidson Web site have been copied to facilitate viewing. These documents are unaltered from their original format.
Document Index
Each supporting document has been compiled into a document index to allow for quick, easy access. These files are sorted alphabetically and the letters across the top of the screen will move you quickly to your desired section. If a more comprehensive search of the document index is necessary, use the 'CTRL+F' function and type one or two keywords in the document’s title. You can then scroll to any document containing those keywords.
DVD Navigation Tips
- The Davidson College SACS DVD is not Mac-compatible. It will only function correctly on a Windows PC.
- The Davidson College SACS homepage should open automatically when you insert the disc in your system. If you have disabled the autorun function, open 'My Computer' and double click on the DVD drive icon.
- Some of the links on the Davidson College SACS DVD require an active Internet connection, including sites located outside the www.davidson.edu domain and the Faculty Credentials database. Please access these links through the Web site.
