Compliance Certification Report

Comprehensive Standard 3.4.5 - Publication of academic policies

The institution publishes academic policies that adhere to principles of good educational practice. These are disseminated to students, faculty, and other interested parties through publications that accurately represent the programs and services of the institution.

Judgment of Compliance

Davidson College is in compliance with Comprehensive Standard 3.4.5.

Rationale for Judgment of Compliance

Responsibility for formulation and implementation of educational program and policy resides in the Faculty. The Faculty Committee on Educational Policy has two major responsibilities: establishing curricula, curriculum requirements, and academic standards; and regulating and changing academic departments.

Academic policies are summarized in the Academic Program and Policies section of the College Catalog. The Catalog is published by the Office of College Communications and edited by the Office of Academic Affairs. These policies include an overview of the curriculum, requirements for graduation, standards of progress, academic support, information on pre-professional programs, and general information concerning admission, withdrawal, registration, attendance, the grading system, transfer credit, and the Davidson system of self-scheduled exams.  Academic regulations are posted on the Registrar’s Web page, as well as included in Sections 3.2 and 3.3 of the Faculty Handbook.
