Judgment of Compliance

Davidson College is in compliance with Comprehensive Standard 3.4.3.

Rationale for Judgment of Compliance

Davidson College's admission policies are consistent with its Statement of Purpose, with emphasis placed on enrolling students who put great value in developing their instincts and creative minds for lives of leadership and service. As a result, Davidson employs a holistic review of all admission candidates to ensure the institution maintains a community dedicated to a liberal arts education and one filled with diverse scholars and students. In defining the community found as a student at Davidson, upon applying for admission, the institution purposefully requests that applicants review the College's Statement of Purpose, the College's Honor code and Code of Responsibility. Davidson's admission process is highly selective, as the College is desirous of enrolling students with stellar academic achievements, strong upstanding character within their community, and who possess outside interests that strengthen their commitment to service and leadership. Prospective students and families are familiarized with the academic profile of the most recently enrolled class, giving them the opportunity to benchmark their personal profile to that of the College. As a college practicing selective admission, we state that possessing characteristics consistent with the enrolled student academic profile does not guarantee admission.
