Comprehensive Standard 3.10.5 - Financial control of externally funded research and programs

The institution maintains financial control over externally funded or sponsored research and programs.

Judgment of Compliance

Davidson College is in compliance with Comprehensive Standard 3.10.5.

Rationale for Judgment of Compliance

Davidson’s participation in externally funded research is not large, but it is extremely important to the academic quality of the institution. The College maintains an Office of Grants and Contracts with a director, a grants assistant, and a grants accountant to help faculty in developing their grant proposals and in managing their grants once received. (See Grants and Contracts guidelines) That office and the Office of Business Services help faculty and staff to comply with applicable federal, state, and agency requirements in the use of those grants through education programs as well as internal controls.
