EVENTS SCHEDULE/

January 15th:

  • Panel Discussion at 7pm in the C. Shaw Smith 900 Room of The Alvarez College Union featuring Dr. Rosemarie Garland-Thomson, Dr. Ann Millet, Laura Splan, Harriet Sanderson, Jessica Cooley and Dr. Ann M. Fox.
  • Exhibition opening and artists reception 8 – 9:30 p.m., The Van Every/Smith Galleries in the Katherine and Tom Belk Visual Arts Center

January 22nd:

  • Film Screening of Rebecca Horn’s feature length film Buster’s Bedroom at 7 pm in the C. Shaw Smith 900 Room in The Alvarez College Union.

February 5th:

  • A day with LifeSpan, 11 – 3 pm. Children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families will be invited for a tour of RE/FORMATIONS: Disability, Women, and Sculpture followed by an opportunity to create original works of art with artists from LifeSpan.

LifeSpan is a North Carolina organization that provides programs to promote inclusion, choice, and family supports for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

January 15th – February 27th:

  • Traveling Trunk - For those unable to travel to RE/FORMATIONS: Disability, Women, and Sculpture, there will be a portable trunk filled with photos, videos, books, and art objects that can easily travel to homes, hospitals, and schools.

Panel Discussion Documentation Video

A panel discussion will be held on the opening night of RE/FORMATIONS, January 15, 2009 at 7pm. The panel will feature the leading scholar in feminist disability studies, Dr. Rosemarie Garland-Thomson; two of RE/FORMATIONS commissioned artists, Laura Splan and Harriet Sanderson; and co-curator of RE/FORMATIONS, Associate Professor of English and Gender Studies concentration coordinator at Davidson College, and disability studies scholar, Dr. Ann M. Fox.
